I am not your typical wedding planner! Because I have an extensive event producer background, I envisualize the entire picture! My team and I know all about venue research, officiants, color schemes, floral, photos, videos, dress choices, etc. However, we interview the wedding couple in depth to determine what THEY want, individually, and together. What is the RIGHT venue, color scheme, favorite flowers, clothing preferences, etc. You get the point! The music has to be what they both want, and we strongly suggest hiring a videographer who actually specializes in weddings! They'll be able to watch their wedding many years to come! Even on a budget, I strongly suggest not to skip the videographer!
I like to diagram the entire event to include fabulous decor and lighting and if the wedding is not in a church, I can create a cathedral feel in practically any space. If it's non-denominational, I use lots of lighting and props to create the "scene" the couple visualizes. Picture a sea of cascading lights behind the couple at the head table or a lighting vignette around the couple at a Sweetheart Table! Their wedding outfits should also mirror the "look' they're both going for.
And again, there's the music! Whether it's a band or DJ, the couple must agree on the music and the song or songs one of them does not want played! You can't believe how this little thing can hurt the wedding itself! I also know some privately owned spaces which are not advertised and drop dead gorgeous for a wedding!
Some weddings can be themed. I worked on a "travel" themed wedding which was interesting. The wedding staff were dressed as flight attendants as they signed guests in. There were travel perks in the gifts given to guests. One wedding included a special themed cake I had made to look like the Chevy the groom had as his first car! That was a surprise, and it was a big hit. Every couple wants their wedding to "stand out." I try to find at least one "something" that is special to the couple and one the guests never forget! (A few surprises can be very memorable!)
